Questions people actually ask
Answered straightPlay the whole ride — the first cap, the defining series, the farewell. The full cricket career simulator runs every season against the real record book, so you finally see how your career actually reads.
What is the cricket career simulator?
One international career, played in the browser from a real domestic competition to the last Test. You earn a first cap for the national side linked to that stop, then navigate form, selection, defining series and the final retirement call.
Batter, bowler or all-rounder?
Three careers with three different measuring sticks. A batter is scored against 1,788 Test runs and nine hundreds in a calendar year. A bowler answers to 96 wickets. The all-rounder is held to both at once, which is exactly as hard as it sounds.
How do you get picked?
The domestic years set your reputation and the next chapter awards a first cap. Cricket has no draft, so the receipt names the national side rather than inventing a round, pick, club auction or free-agent market.
What do the chapters mean?
The domestic stop covers ages 19–20 and First cap is 21. Test windows run 22–24, 25–27, 28–30, 31–33 and 34–38; Farewell is 39, and the Selection panel is the decision after playing.
What does the defining-series chapter do?
It asks whether you chase the calendar-year record book, lead the next wave, or build toward the biggest series. The national side never changes, and success is recorded as Test wins, series-winning years and rare series sweeps rather than a fake league finish.
Are the records real?
They come from the public Test record book — the calendar-year marks for runs, hundreds and wickets — and the row at the top of the board counts only the seasons where your career genuinely beat one. It stays on zero in most careers.
Can I become a Test legend?
The finish grades the whole career on an SSS–F ladder, and legend status follows what the numbers and the honors actually support. World XI selections and Player of the Year land only when a season earns them.
Is this a cricket career game?
Yes — career game, career simulator, same browser game. You make every call and the record book settles what it was worth.
Can I challenge a friend?
Send the card and they start from their own domestic stop, first cap and decisions, with your result as the mark to beat.
Does it cost anything?
No. It is free in the browser, no account, nothing to install, and the link in the address bar holds your career so a reload never loses it.
How long a career does the cricket record hold?
Careers here are measured across formats as much as years — a player can be a Test great and barely feature in the short game. The record runs from 1877, and what a long career looks like changed completely somewhere in the middle of it.
What marks a great cricket career in the record?
Wisden recognition and the honours each format keeps, gathered over years rather than one summer. A career that scored in Tests and in the short game is a different achievement from one that mastered either.
How rare is a hall-of-fame cricket career?
125 figures are recognised across every major nation and the whole history of the game. Against the number who have played international cricket, it is a very narrow group.
Is a great cricket career one huge season or many good ones?
Many, and the formats complicate it further. A player can build a Test record across fifteen years while barely appearing in the short game, and the record keeps those accounts separately — great in one format and ordinary in another is a normal career shape here, not a failed one.
How does a cricket career usually end?
Selection, more often than legs. International cricket has no contract to run down — a player is picked or is not — so a career can stop abruptly at a level where a domestic one would continue for years.
What is hardest to sustain across a full cricket career?
Form across conditions. An average built at home can collapse on tour, and every innings stays in the record — so the careers that hold up over fifteen years are almost always the ones that travelled well.
What happens where the cricket record is thin?
Older tours were written down in far less detail than modern ones, and the early first-class game in less still. Where the book is thin the card shows what the book holds and nothing more — an empty column stays empty rather than becoming an estimate.
Can a simulated cricket career go badly?
Easily. Form, format and selection all move independently, and a career that starts well in one format may never get a proper run in another. The simulation follows the record's own shape rather than promising a rising line.
