How to play — College Football
College football is the sport where an unbeaten season genuinely happens. The schedule is short, the gap between programs is wide, and the record reaches back to 1920 across hundreds of them.
The board
12 seats: QB · RB · WR · TE · FLX1 · FLX2 · EDGE · DT · LB · CB · S · DFX. Twelve seats across both units: quarterback, back, receiver, tight end and two flexes; then edge, tackle, linebacker, corner, safety and a defensive flex. Quarterback is worth 1.5×; edge and corner are 1.2×.
The rounds
Each round opens one program in one window of years. The first six rounds fill offense and the final six fill defense, with one re-roll reserved for each side. Rosters turn over every three or four seasons, so a program's eras are genuinely separate teams.
The season
13 games, then a 3-game playoff gauntlet at 10 wins — 16–0 for the sweep. Thirteen games and then a three-game playoff — sixteen results. The short schedule is why undefeated seasons are commoner here than in any professional league on the site, and why one upset ends everything.

What the record holds
The college record reaches back to 1920 across hundreds of programs, and holds 1,364 hall-of-fame figures — far and away the largest list on this site, because every one of those programs sends its own. Rosters turn over every three or four years, so a program's eras are separate teams rather than variations on one identity.
What decides it
A college career is short, so there are far fewer chances to be recognised. Consensus All-American selection and the Heisman are decided before a professional career starts, which makes them the honest comparison across eras. The playoff is where the short schedule turns brutal: thirteen results build a case and three settle it.
